Very Strange, but Amazingly Cool

I just watched an anime film I have been meaning to get to for quite some time. It’s called Dead Leaves and if I had to choose two word to describe it, they would have to be pure insanity. It is the story of some very strange characters who wake up with no memory of their past, which is not very original. It’s been done to death, but the story of Dead Leaves is not where it shines (in fact if it were judged on the merit of its story alone it would be mediocre at best). The art style of the movie is just freeform chaos. It is really refreshing, but no something I could stand for more than the 42 minutes the movie ran. It’s as if the art studio took a bunch of wacked out druggy, otakus and gave them some art supplies and told them to go nuts. I would recommend the movie to anyone who is looking for something a little different who isn’t a stickler on story and is looking for some cool visuals. This is one of those movies where the stereotype of anime having a bunch of flashing colors and lights to cause seizures holds true. Really cool overall, I am not upset having watched it.

Live in the now, man

Most things in this world irritate me, but I try to let things slide to avoid overstressing. Well this blog is about one of those times where I just can’t let it slide. Do you ever hear people saying, “Man I wish it was [future time] already so I could do [activity] and [obstacle] wouldn’t be in the way.”? If you don’t you should just open your ears. I hear it all the time from people all around me. It is really sickening to see people waste the time they have. There is no problem with looking forward to something, but when all you do is look forward and don’t actually live the present, you get caught in an perpetual loop of hoping and wishing. You are actually wasting your time. The future is for planning not for living in. The other problem that arises through all this is you build up the future event so much that it can do nothing, but fall short of your expectations. If you follow this down the line that leads to a life of less than stellar experiences you were not entirely in because you are too busy thinking of what is next to come. ENJOY LIFE! Have a solid plan and then just live in the present. The worst thing that can happen when it’s all said and done is look back with regret. If this sounds all too familiar to you, I would highly recommend giving living in the now, man.

Surprise, surprise.

Do you ever have have a moment when you just realize you understand something and everything just clicks. Well, I had one such moment this morning. I was at working having an innocuous conversation with Justin while doing math. It was one of those half talking half reading. I came upon a problem where it asks to take the magnitude of the trigonometric unit vector. I just realized, well that’s stupid, it will always be 1. BAM! I even said it to Justin then proceeded to explain unit vectors to him. It was like I learned something from college. Wtf is that about?
